Summary

Computes an operation/expression for every row of a dataset.

Description

This tool computes an operation/expression for every row of a dataset and adds the result into a new column.

General comments (Warning/Tips)

If your input file is not tab-delimited, use Text Manipulation→Convert

Input

  • Add expression: enter the expression to consider. It can be either an operation ( + - / * ) or a comparison ( < <= > >= == !=). You also have to indicate which columns should be used. The columns are referenced with c followed by the column number. For example, c1 refers to the first column. Example of expression: c1>c2
  • As a new column to: select the input file.
  • Round result?: select YES if you want to round the number to the nearest whole number.

Output

The output is in tabular format. It contains the input dataset plus one additional column. This column either contains the result of the operation or a boolean value (True False) if you made a comparison.

Usage Example: determining the length of genes.
